He did a fast, high quality job, showed up when he said he was going to, and added some extra touches such as replacing my attic fan with a full ridgevent (a greener solution) and painting the exhaust pipes to match the shingles. It looks great, and he did it all for a very reasonable price: at least $4k less than what my neighbor paid for a slightly smaller roof last year! | Consumer from Alexandria, VA What a great experience from beginning to end. George Smith the owner promptly responded to my request for a price estimate to replace our 40 year old roof. He chatted with me when he came to look at the roof and described his background and his work team who has been with him for many years. I knew the roof had some spongy spots and we both knew to be prepared to replace a lot of the 3/8" plywood sheathing with new 1/2" plywood. I'm a big fan of Consumer Reports and told him I want to use Dow Corning Duration shingles which had a high score in testing at a competitive price. George quickly searched the area and found a supplier and brought me some sample shingles in the color group of grays requested. We chose our color and within a week the work began and was finished in two days. All of the main roof plywood was replaced at the estimated price, plus two top of the line skylights installed at a much lower price then other roofers estimate. Two bathroom exhaust fans were found to be exhausting into the attic, George installed venting hardware to move the humid air outside through the new roof. When the job was done the house and yard was completely clean. All in all a very well done job at a very good price. | |

Ever since then, i have had leaks multiple times/yr after almost every major storm or high winds. Even had some of my shingles blow off and damage neighbors cars. The original roofer contracted by my association blamed it on the position of my townhouse style condo and its subjectivity to wind. I didn't buy it and finally requested a new roofer. Smith roofing was called and they immediately saw that my shingles were incorrectly installed (nailed too high so any high winds would rip the shingles off my roof). When it finally got warm, Smith roofing came out and replaced the entire roof (May 2015) and I've had no leaks or blown shingles yet (there's has been a few high wind storms). They even thoroughly cleaned up after themselves. He is very busy and took longer than expected to come out and replace the roof, but made up for it with the quality of work.
